Press Release Glen Helen Rounds 9 &10

                 TYREE MOTORSPORTS PRESS RELEASE August 6th & 7th 2011

LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD RACING SERIES (LOORRS)

Round 9 & 10 Glen Helen San Bernadino, CA.

Friday/Saturday August 5th-6th- The Tyree team was heading out from home base on route to another Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series race.   The team was excited and pumped, the pit crew had been working around the clock improving #91 back in the San Diego race shop.  Some very sophisticated valves and a new suspension kit had the team dizzy with excitement, the last few weeks have been crazy busy, installing, testing, improving, testing & more testing .  Nick has not missed  a beat in preparing himself for this upcoming race, he has been out on the track fine tuning his driving skills and following the guidance of some of the  veteran legends in the series.  California races hold a little added pressure for the Tyree Motorsports team since many of the teams’ sponsors and all the teams family and friends are in the stands watching, the pressure to perform is on but the team thrives under pressure just makes them work even harder really.  Friday night was a rush of hustle and bustle as the team set up the pit and  prepared for Saturdays race, the new “RAPTOR” body style and the new TOYO tires were making their inaugural debut #91 had to be perfect, “sleep when your dead”  is the motto for the team these days.  Friday’s practice went great 10th fastest, qualified 14th , truck bucked real bad going into turn 5, tore the bumper off and bent a wheel, spent the afternoon repairing the bumper and making shock adjustments.

Saturday was a LONG day, the PRO 2 unlimited race didn’t begin until almost 11pm, throughout the day Tyree Motorsports was fortunate to have the expert guidance of many industry performance parts’ representatives.   Huge thanks to GW from Toyo Tires for stopping by and offering help with the TOYO tires and thanks to K& N for dropping off some of their top of the line filters, much appreciated. We had a shakedown lap for Nick to see if the shock adjustment took the buck out of the truck, it looked much better.  The late start did not keep the fans away, the stands were packed to the gills with cheering crowds, many of Tyree Motorsports friends and family watched in sheer amazement at the smash ups and carnage happening on the track.  Nick got wrangled up with and spun by Robbie Pierce right before he burst into flames and became a disco inferno.  The crowd loved this lightshow what a fiery scene!!!! Nick moved up through the pack in Saturdays race twice, he spun midway through the whoops, causing him to have to come back up through the field again, we could tell he had been a battle by the way the front bumper looked, the team had to replace it again. Nick finished 9th despite this putting him back a few paces.  After the race ended it was back to the pit to replace the front bumper and start preparing for Sundays’ race, surprisingly nothing else major needed repair.

Sunday August 7th Again another long day in the pit, the crew was fine tuning #91.  Even with the later race start time, time still flew by and had some of the crew thinking 9pm races may have an advantage.  The pit was abuzz with lots of fans, family and friends.  Thank you to the Gutierrez family for providing the great food that kept the team energized on the track an enormous humble thanks to Todd Le Duc for spotting.

As race hour approached you could feel the anticipation in the air.  Then finally, the racers were in position, the green flag went and it was “show time”.  Nick had earned a good starting spot from the race Saturday he was starting up toward the front with the faster trucks. We could tell that the testing we had done for the last 2 months was paying off, when the race started Nick was making steady progress toward the front passing trucks that we had not been able to get near before, when the caution came out we were toward the front in good shape, the truck looked like it had just pulled on the track. When the green flag drops we  are off to a good start again, Nick passes another truck, with 7 laps to go, Nick gets spun coming out of turn 2.  Nick is sitting sideways in the track with McGrath coming right at him off a jump, the two made serious contact!!!! In the scuffle,  #91 gets hit at the drivers front wheel, bending the upper A arm and both shocks, the engine gets moved bending some brackets, the rear lower arm is also bent on the rear end.  No time to take chances Nick had to pull off the track disappointed for sure.

It is hard to fully appreciate the “top” if you have never been to the bottom, perspective, humility,  hard work and teamwork are the core of Tyree Motorsports, Tyree motorsports  will make it to the top and that day will come and it will be the sweetest day when it does.  Until then thank you for all of your continued support.

Thank you to our generous & loyal sponsors
